Robert está casado actualmente con Susan Levin, una actriz estadounidense. Robert Downey es padre de 3 hijos. El primero fue fruto de su relación con Deborah Falconer y los últimos dos son fruto de su relación con Susan Levin. Downey es actualmente uno de los actores mejores pagados de la industria gracias a Marvel y esperamos verlo mucho más tiempo en su papel de Tony Stark.
