A pesar de haber nacido como María Consuelo Holzapfel Ossa, la actriz decidió adoptar su segundo nombre como nombre artístico y se convirtió en una de las mejores actrices de Chile. Consuelo es hija de inmigrantes alemanes que tuvieron mucho éxito en chile y su padre incluso se convirtió en gobernador de Valdivia.
Consuelo iba a estudiar derecho como primera opción y por sugerencia de sus padres, pero luego se dio cuenta de que no era su pasión y decidió mudarse para estudiar teatro y actuación. Su buena decisión le permitió trabajar en decenas de telenovelas y películas como Oro verde, Aquelarre, Romané, Pampa Ilusión, Entre medias, Isla Paraíso, Perdona nuestros pecados, entre otros.
A pesar de tener 65 años, el talento y la belleza de Consuelo perduran y su trabajo no se ha detenido en más de 47 años. Su carrera sigue igual de activa que en su juventud.
