Jared estava tão comprometido com seu caráter que comeu muito menos por dias, mesmo recorrendo à fome voluntária que levou a uma perda de peso de 17 quilos. Ele fez experimentos semelhantes com peso muitas vezes. Depois que o filme acabou, ele ganhou peso para outro filme que estava fazendo.
