Joe Turkel – 1927
Joe Turkel is one of those Hollywood celebrities who served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After returning from the battlefields, he decided to pursue a career in acting, aside from writing screenplays and putting aside his earnings for funding his health insurance plans. Joe is mostly known for portraying the character of Dr. Tyrell in the 1980’s neo-noir crime flick Blade Runner. Later, he appeared in one of the greatest horror movies of all time, The Shining, and went on to do two more films under Kubrick’s direction – Paths of Glory and The Killing. Joe Turkel loves to refer to himself as a ‘democrat’, and he even attended a 2014 protest rally. Although his last credited film appearance was in 1998, he hasn’t announced his retirement plan just as yet.
