Sally Jessy Raphael — $40 Million
Red glasses and red-hot scandals made Sally Jessy Raphael extremely popular. Having started out as a reporter for the Associated Press and United Press International, she wasn’t that successful at first, moving from one station to another. However, she got her big break as a host for her own show, The Sally Jessy Raphael Show, from 1983 to 2002. It is known to be the first talk show talking about various issues, from extreme religious affiliations to personal familial problems, with a female host.
This show got the world’s attention which gave Raphael fame and fortune. She later admitted that it was the producer’s idea to have those topics to make the show popular; in fact, she hated them. Though her show ended in 2002, she became famous as one of the best talk show hosts of all time. Sally now owns about $40M.
