These Celebrities Served In the Army Before Becoming Famous, Some of Them Were in World War II

Paul Newman

It is not just to describe Paul Newman as an actor only — he was a versatile man with various kinds of interests. Actor, producer, director, entrepreneur, race car driver, and finally philanthropist – the list is impressive, and so was the man. His acting skills were highly praised which helped him earn an Oscar for his movie, The Color Of Money. He founded a company that helped organize various children’s programs and summer camps named SeriousFun Children’s Network. Though he showed a lot of promise in the theater even as a kid, he joined the military first, having served the US Navy in World War II. Though he wanted to be a pilot, he couldn’t because of his color-blindness. He went on to become a radioman and rear gunner and got posted in Hawaii. With a highly successful career in movies, he probably never needed veteran benefits or veterans loans.
