These Celebrities Served In the Army Before Becoming Famous, Some of Them Were in World War II

The Bahamian individual was the first black person to have won the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award in the Best Actor category for his portrayal in the film, Lilies of the Field. Poitier concealed his real age and entered the United States Army at a meager age of 16 in 1943. He took up the job of a medical attendant at a New York mental hospital, but in due course of time, he grew tired of his life in the army. After faking insanity and receiving shock treatment threats, Potier unveiled his real age. A long consultation with a psychiatrist eventually resulted in his release or else, visits to the treatment centers would have sealed his fate.
