A pesar de dar positivo por COVID-19, el representante de Barbara Shelley dijo que “no fue COVID lo que se la llevó, ella tenía dificultades subyacentes”. Fue reconocida como la “Reina del Martillo” por su trabajo en películas de terror de las décadas de 1950 y 1960. Barbara Shelley falleció el 4 de enero de 2021 a la edad de 88 años.
Tenía una regla estricta en contra de interpretar papeles en topless y era muy consciente de cómo se presentaba al público. Fue mejor conocida por algunos de sus papeles en las películas Dracula: Prince of Darkness, Quartermass and the Pit, Mantrap, Cat Girl y Blood of the Vampire. Tuvo una fuerte presencia tanto dentro como fuera de la pantalla, y la extrañaremos mucho.
