UN MÉMORIAL A ÉTÉ CONSTRUIT EN L’HONNEUR DES VICTIMES
La grande structure qui apparaît sur cette photo est un mémorial construit en souvenir des victimes de l’accident de Tchernobyl. Cela inclut les sauveteurs qui sont venus fouiller dans les décombres du site de l’explosion et qui ont péri dans la foulée à cause du feu ou de l’exposition à la radioactivité.
Ce mémorial est ainsi un rappel permanent du courage dont ils ont fait preuve ce jour-là. Leur effort a d’ailleurs été prolongé par la création d’un fonds spécial en 1997 pour détruire les bâtiments radioactifs à Tchernobyl et assurer ainsi la sécurité des habitants de la région environnante.
