L’ÉLEVAGE LOCAL A ÉTÉ COMPROMIS PAR LE SOL CONTAMINÉ
L’iode radioactif a été l’une des plus grandes menaces liées à l’incident nucléaire à Tchernobyl en plus de l’explosion elle-même. Le fait qu’elle se soit dissipée au bout d’un certain temps avait ainsi donné l’impression que la situation n’était plus à craindre, mais ce fut un faux sentiment de sécurité.
Des éléments radioactifs tels que le césium-137 et le strontium-90 se sont en effet répandus dans le sol pour le contaminer. Les animaux d’élevages environnants ont pourtant été nourris à partir de ce sol, compromettant ainsi l’intégrité de la viande et du lait produit à ce titre pour les habitants.
