Chalk streams are rivers that rise from a landscape that has chalk bedrock. Since the chalk is permeable, water prelocates easily to the surface, resulting in streams that are clear with little to no organic matter. The river beds made this way are perfect spawning areas for salmon.
Most chalk streams are found in England and are great fishing spots. For example, River Test and River Itchen Hampshire, and the River Avon in Wiltshire are some of the most prized trout river fishing spots in the world.
