Seu seguro de saúde não cobria as acusações e ele estava perdendo sua capacidade de executar tarefas com as mãos. Foi quando uma enfermeira entregou-lhe uma guitarra e o resto vocês já sabem. Seu filho Enrique foi abençoado com a boa aparência de seu pai e se juntou a ele na indústria da música. Ele e sua esposa, a tenista Anna Kournikova, acabaram de ter os gêmeos no final do ano passado.
