Wayne Gretzky, considerato il più grande giocatore di hockey di tutti i tempi, e Janet Jones, attrice, sono una delle coppie più iconiche dello sport e dello spettacolo. Si sono conosciuti nel 1984 durante un incontro casuale e hanno iniziato a frequentarsi poco dopo. Nonostante la carriera di Jones non abbia mai decollato come sperato, nonostante ruoli in film come The Flamingo Kid (1984) e A Chorus Line (1985), la loro relazione è diventata solida e duratura. Si sono sposati il 16 luglio 1988 in una cerimonia sontuosa, definita “il matrimonio del secolo” in Canada. Da allora, sono rimasti insieme per oltre 35 anni, superando anche il trasferimento di Gretzky dai Edmonton Oilers ai Los Angeles Kings nel 1988, decisione presa in parte per sostenere la carriera di Jones.
