Damals war Val Kilmer ein unglaublich gut aussehender Mann, doch heute mit fünfundfünfzig scheint er seinen alten Charme verloren zu haben. Sein Körper und sein Gesicht wirken aufgedunsen. Die Zuschauer kennen ihn aus Filmen wie Top Gun, Was für ein Genie und Top Secret! Sein Sohn Jack Kilmer ist ganz wie der Vater. 2015 gab es Gerüchte über seine Gesundheit.: Viele Leute spekulierten, dass er ernsthaft krank sei und unter einem Tumor oder Krebs leidet. Val hat diese Gerüchte anfangs in 2017 bestritten, doch später zugegeben, dass er zwei Jahre lang gegen Kehlkopfkrebs gekämpft hat und sich momentan davon erholt.
