Jahre bevor er als Han Solo bekannt wurde, stieß Ford in seinem Auto mit einem Telefonmasten zusammen auf seinem Weg zur Arbeit und verletzte sich sein Gesicht auf grausame Weise. Obwohl er eine Autoversicherung hatte, hat er durch die Operation eine bleibende Narbe am Kinn behalten, die auch jetzt noch sichtbar ist.
