Actress Raquel Welch soared to stardom in the mid-1960s with her breakout role in “Fantastic Voyage” and a coveted contract with 20th Century Fox. However, it was her unforgettable appearance in the 1966 blockbuster “One Million Years B.C.” that truly made her an icon.
This film marked her first bikini appearance and instantly captured the public’s imagination. Raquel’s swimsuit (the famous tan ‘fur-kini’) became a pop-culture sensation despite her limited dialogue in the film. It wasn’t the most practical attire for any era really, but it undeniably cemented her position as a timeless fashion icon, with her posters gracing many walls over the years.
