ANGELA BASSETT – HOW STELLA GOT HER GROOVE BACK, 1998
Angela Bassett, a multi-award-winning actress renowned for her empowering portrayals of Black women in strong roles, made her mark in cinema with notable films like the 1995 “Waiting to Exhale” and the 1997 “Contact.” However, it was her role in the 1998 hit film “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” that catapulted her to international stardom.
In the movie, Angela embodied Stella Payne, a 40-year-old American who discovers unexpected love in the arms of a 20-year-old Jamaican man. Notably, Bassett rocked a vibrant fuchsia bikini and a white beaded necklace while her co-star sported simple black swimming trunks. This iconic beach scene showcased Angela’s undeniable charisma and talent.
