Les problèmes d’argent ne définissent personne – et l’ancien président américain Abraham Lincoln ne le savait que trop bien après avoir été traîné par des débiteurs dans les années 1840. Lincoln était peut-être un bon président, mais il n’était pas très compétent en matière de finances commerciales et de planification financière. Et après s’être essayé à une entreprise, il est devenu ce qui est maintenant considéré comme un échec. Mais en l’absence de toute disposition de la loi sur la faillite pour le renflouer à l’époque, il était à la merci de ses débiteurs et de la dépression qui s’ensuivit. Pourtant, il a réussi à renverser la situation. Il est toujours resté dans l’histoire comme l’un des plus grands présidents que les États-Unis aient jamais vus, et il a fait en sorte que le pays soit bien meilleur quand il est mort que quand il est né.
