Nel cuore imponente del Titanic, il Capitano Smith non era l’unico timoniere di quell’epopea marittima. Al suo fianco, nella foto, Hugh Walter McElroy, il vice comandante, figura di potere e responsabilità. L’obiettivo di questa immagine fu catturato dal Reverendo FM Browne, che salì a bordo solo per immortalare l’evento, per poi abbandonare la nave prima dell’epico viaggio. Entrambi, Capitano e Vice, perirono nell’abisso oceanico, mantenendo il giuramento d’onore della marina: non abbandonare la nave. Questi tre uomini di statura straordinaria, sacrificando sé stessi, salvarono numerose vite. Un atto di coraggio che risuona nell’eternità dell’oceano.
