Nell’istantanea, le scialuppe del Titanic approdano finalmente al molo Pier 54 di New York City, il luogo designato per l’approdo del malcapitato transatlantico. La Carpathia, con il suo carico di sopravvissuti, giunse a New York solo il 18 aprile, accolto da una schiera di organizzazioni umanitarie. La Travelers Aid Society di New York, il Women’s Relief Committee e il Council of Jewish Women si fecero carico di offrire conforto e assistenza. Alcuni fortunati trovarono parenti americani ad attenderli, mentre treni gratuiti furono messi a disposizione per ricondurli ai loro cari, sparsi per gli Stati Uniti. Un flebile conforto dopo l’orrore vissuto tra le gelide acque.
