James Patterson is one of the most celebrated authors in the USA. He is also one of the highest paid authors around. Born to middle-class parents, Patterson’s mother was a homemaker and his father a life insurance agent. But banking on his talents for writing, Patterson got a master’s degree in English from Vanderbilt college. He got a job in an ad agency, and it was only in 1996 when he started writing. Since then, his books have gained worldwide fame, and the money he earns don’t just go straight to his bank accounts as he is known to donate millions for college grants and scholarships.
