Parental Rules and Traditions
Iceland has strict rules regarding baby naming and parents must take the selection process seriously. These names must be in the Icelandic language and must be approved by the Personal Names Committee. Parents that select a different name for their baby, make a special request to the committee.
Besides names, the nation is also serious about the sleeping habits of their babies. It is a tradition for babies to nap in the fresh air, as Icelanders believe this will help keep them healthy. This is also a common practice in other Scandinavian countries, where it is believed that colder air will provide a deeper sleep.
