I due si sono conosciuti a teatro, mentre stavano lavorando alla rappresentazione de “Le tre sorelle” di Anton Cechov. Sergio e consorte sono molto affiatati anche nella vita professionale, dal momento che la donna ha anche scritto alcune sceneggiature per i film del marito come “La bellezza del somaro” e “Fortunata”.
