No todos los trajes para Día de Muertos surgen de tradiciones mexicanas, hay otros como el de la calabaza que surge en la celebración de Halloween. Tras su deceso, ni el cielo ni el inframundo acogieron a Jack debido a sus pecados. Errante en penumbras, su única guía era un carbón ardiente dentro de un nabo ahuecado. Este relato inspiró las calabazas iluminadas de Halloween, representando el espíritu errante de Jack y dando paso a un popular disfraz.
