Die Menschen, die zum Zeitpunkt der Nuklearkatastrophe in Tschernobyl lebten, erkrankten an Krebs und die Rate stieg mit der Zeit an. Auch wenn die Unfallanwälte die Behörden für den Unfall verantwortlich machen, sind die Beamten der Meinung, dass sich die Evakuierung des gesamten Gebiets nach der Explosion in Zukunft als hilfreich erweisen könnte. Sie argumentieren, dass die Menschen, die in der Nähe des Kernkraftwerks Tschernobyl wohnen, schon lange von der tödlichen Krankheit betroffen waren, noch bevor das Kraftwerk errichtet wurde, und dass nach der Evakuierung weniger Menschen erkrankten, da sie nun vor der Hintergrundstrahlung des Kraftwerks sicher sind. Zugegebenermaßen klingt das schon etwas fadenscheinig.
