Diese Geräte, die hauptsächlich zur Messung der Strahlendosis verwendet werden, wurden vor allem von den Arbeitern benutzt, die nach dem Unfall das Gelände reinigten. Die Tatsache, dass sie verstreut liegen, weist deutlich darauf hin, dass auch bei den Aufräumarbeiten noch viele Gefahren lauerten. Egal ob Radioaktivität oder wilde Tiere, mehrere Menschen kamen bei den Aufräumarbeiten tatsächlich ums Leben, und ihre Krankenversicherungen kamen kaum zum Einsatz. Diese Geräte ähneln denen, die den Touristen in Tschernobyl zur Verfügung gestellt wurden.
