DIE UMWELT HAT EINEN GROSSEN SCHADEN GENOMMEN
Die Strahlung reichte aus, um eine Bedrohung für das gesamte Ökosystem darzustellen, da eine Reihe von Bäumen in der Umgebung von Tschernobyl fast unmittelbar nach der Explosion abstarb. Eine Gruppe von Kiefern in der Nähe von Reaktor vier verfärbte sich sofort rötlich-braun und erhielt daher den Namen “Roter Wald”. Die Bäume wurden zeitnah abgeholzt, um zu verhindern, dass andere Bäume in der Nähe in Mitleidenschaft gezogen werden. In jüngster Zeit ist die Fauna in und um Tschernobyl im Vergleich zu anderen Pflanzen und Bäumen weniger stark gewachsen. Solche Zerstörungen sind schwer zu vergessen, und die Umwelt zahlt wie so oft den Preis dafür.
