My Mother-in-law’s “Lazy” Label Almost Broke Me—But I Had a Plan
On the Edge of Breaking
Every day, I followed her increasingly extensive list of orders. But even a professional maid couldn’t keep up with the never-ending list she gave me. There was no time for rest, no time to catch my breath. I worked my office job all day, then came home to scrub, clean, and cook from dusk until dawn.
Two weeks in, I walked through the door after work, expecting the usual silence, but there she was—standing in the living room, my bags packed and waiting. My heart froze. “I’m done,” she said, her eyes cold. And just like that, everything I feared came crashing down.
