I should’ve known better than to think it was easy. Now that I wasn’t working, I spent my days ticking off items from her never-ending chore list. One evening, as I lay in bed exhausted, I thought to myself, This isn’t so bad. It’s just like being a stay-at-home mom.
But the next day, my mother-in-law handed me a new list—twice as long as before. “I see you’re handling everything easily,” she said, her smile sharp as a blade. “So here’s a challenge.” I had no idea what I was in for. This wasn’t just housework anymore. This was her power play.
