Oscar Robertson – An Advocate For Affordable Housing


Oscar Robertson had a long and prosperous career. He was a 12-time All-Star in the NBA during his 14-year career and retired as one of the league’s leading scorers. He started providing affordable housing for African-Americans in Indianapolis.

His efforts reaped some major benefits and ensured great improvements in the neighborhood. The University of Cincinnati also honored him with the Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters in 2007. It was certainly well-deserved.

After his great success in the basketball arena in 1974, he began his foray into the business world. Today, he is the principal owner of three successful companies: OR CHEM, (sells chemicals used for industrial cleaning), ORPACK, (a corrugated box manufacturer), and ORDMS, (which aids companies to reduce their paper flow) The second innings in his career has turned out to be equally productive. He is one of the rare sportspersons whose business career has been as successful as his sports career.
