Angela Merkel und Joachim Sauer – Verheiratet seit 1998
Angela Merkel, die ehemalige Bundeskanzlerin, ist seit 1998 mit dem Wissenschaftler Joachim Sauer verheiratet. Die beiden lernten sich offenbar noch vor dem Mauerfall kennen. Für Angela ist es bereits die zweite Ehe – ihren Nachnamen trägt sie noch von ihrem ersten Ehemann, dem Physiker Ulrich Merkel, den sie während des Studiums geheiratet hatte.
Joachim Sauer hält sich meist aus dem Rampenlicht heraus, doch als stiller Unterstützer steht er Angela seit Jahrzehnten treu zur Seite. Nach ihrer beispiellosen politischen Karriere genießt Merkel inzwischen das Leben in Politik-Rente. Sie und Joachim führen ein erstaunlich bodenständiges Leben – hin und wieder wird sie sogar beim Einkaufen in Berlin gesichtet. Ganz Kanzlerin, ganz privat!
