Bolaños inició su romance con Florina Meza cuando ellos todavía eran compañeros de trabajo. El actor estaba casado y tenía una familia consolidada, pero al parecer encontró el verdadero amor en Florinda Meza, a la que le dijo un día que se encontraba vacío en el amor y que él sentía que le faltaba algo.
Ese algo era Florinda Meza, quien no se dejó seducir al inicio. Pasaron 5 años para que la pareja consumara su relación y desde entonces no se separaron hasta la muerte del actor.
