Después de que terminó la trilogía original, ella tuvo que enfrentarse a un desorden bipolar y a una adicción a las drogas. Ella estaba con sobrepeso, así que cuando se le ofreció de nuevo su papel en Star Wars: The Force Awakens en el 2015, ella decidió perder peso con una dieta saludable y con ejercicios. Ella logró perder cerca de 40 libras. Lamentablemente ella falleció en el 2016.
