Edgar Vivar se inmortalizó como el señor Barriga, personaje que interpretó en El Chavo del 8. Ese papel lo llevaron a la fama y no hay nadie en Latinoamérica que no conozca a este increíble actor. En la actualidad sigue trabajando y este 2019 trabajó en la telenovela Cita a ciegas. Tal como lo dice el nombre del papel que interpretó en el Chavo, Edgar era una persona con un gran sobrepeso. Edgar notó que no comía solo por necesidad o gusto, lo hacía porque sentía un vacío emocional. La mayor parte de su vida la pasó con sobrepeso, sin embargo, un día Edgar decidió realizarse el bypass gástrico y cambió su vida por completo. Edgar perdió más de 100 kilos durante y después de la operación y ahora es un hombre distinto.
