Cuando Sophia o Sofia Loren participó en un certamen de belleza a los 14 años, ella estuvo tentada de tomar clases de actuación. Aunque ella apareció en películas a los quince años de edad, las fuertes habilidades para la actuación de Sofia fueron notadas solo después de actuar en la película italiana de Vittoria De Sica, Two Women.
