One might be perplexed as to how the lioness maneuvers the antelope in her mouth without ripping his skin. Well, it’s precisely how she transfers her little ones as well. How, then, can something as small as a cub be carried without harm by some of the most powerful jaws in the jungle?
Lions have a significant amount of muscle control. They don’t necessarily have to utilize all of their effort to close their mouths. In the same way that we would understand that handling expensive porcelain takes a certain level of finesse, a lioness is aware of the consequences of employing undue strength when transporting her young.
