W momencie, gdy Lexi i Danny zaczęli się spotykać, szybko dostrzegli, jak silnie wzajemnie na siebie oddziałują. Oboje prowadzili podobny tryb życia – brakowało w nim aktywności fizycznej i zdrowego odżywiania. Jednak nie ma się co dziwić, ponieważ przy wadze powyżej 150 kilogramów nawet drobne ruchy były wyzwaniem, a długie spacery czy jazda na rowerze stanowiły bolesny wysiłek, zamiast sprawiać przyjemność. W końcu Lexi zebrała się na odwagę i wyznała Danny’emu, że nie jest zadowolona ani ze swojego wyglądu, ani z dotychczasowego stylu życia. Brakowało jej motywacji do zmian i potrzebowała czegoś, co w końcu ją do tego zmobilizuje. Na szczęście wreszcie znalazła ten impuls i postanowiła dążyć do wyznaczonego celu.
