Steve Ballmer has been one of the most notable people in the tech industry over the last few decades. He dropped out of university to join Microsoft in 1980 and grew within the organization to become its president in 1998 and, subsequently, its CEO only two years later. That made him the direct successor to the tech mogul Bill Gates.

Besides professional success, Microsoft is also credited to Ballmer’s first meeting with his wife, Connie Snyder, who was a colleague. The couple got married in 1990 and went on to have three children. Snyder is a philanthropist and works to alleviate poverty and support foster kids.
