Melissa looked around the shop, her ears catching every sound from the back room. She heard Mr. Harris digging through drawers, mumbling to himself. The words were too soft to understand, but something felt strange.
“Is everything alright?” she called out, a bit uneasy and starting to regret coming to this shop. Mr. Harris’s voice answered, tense but quick, “Yes, yes, just a moment! I’m… just checking something.” He tried to sound calm, but Melissa could hear the worry in his voice. She sighed, waiting at the counter. What could be taking so long? Little did she know, her life was about to take an unexpected turn.
