Zurück ins damalige Siam: Chang und Eng
Chang und Eng Bunker, geboren im damaligen Siam, erlangten als die ersten berühmten siamesischen Zwillinge weltweite Bekanntheit. Im Amerika des 19. Jahrhunderts faszinierte ihre Geschichte das Publikum auf internationalen Ausstellungen, weshalb diese körperliche Anomalie nach ihrem Ursprungsland benannt wurde. Genau wie die Hensel-Zwillinge hatten auch sie zwei Köpfe und einen Körper.
Ihr Leben war geprägt von ungewöhnlichen Erlebnissen: Sie lebten nicht nur als Entertainer, sondern fanden auch privates Glück. Sie heirateten zwei Schwestern und gründeten große Familien. Trotz ihrer körperlichen Verbundenheit führten sie ein eigenständiges Leben. Ihr besonderes verbundenes Schicksal endete auch gemeinsam: Als Chang im Jahr 1875 starb, überlebte Eng nur wenige Stunden.
