Elijah Cummings (1951–2019) – $1.3 Million
Elijah Cummings spent his life fighting for justice, not stacking millions. With an estimated net worth of $1.3 million, he made his money the old-fashioned way—through hard work, public service, and smart real estate investments. Born in Baltimore, he worked his way up from the Maryland House of Delegates to Congress, where he represented Maryland’s 7th district from 1996 until his passing in 2019.
Along the way, he made history as the first African American Speaker Pro Tempore in Maryland. As Chair of the House Oversight Committee, he took on some of Washington’s biggest controversies. His financial portfolio also included real estate in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
