Tal vez antes no haya sido tan reconocida, pero sin duda todos se aprendieron su nombre cuando ganó el Oscar en el 2019 por su alucinante actuación en la producción Roma. La cual también ganó el Oscar a mejor película extranjera y Alfonso Cuarón ganó a mejor director por esta increíble película.
Antes de Roma, Marina ha trabajado en películas como Desafío, Azul maduro, Viento en contra, Ana and Bruno, Cómplices, entre otras. Obviamente, ninguna con el nivel de éxito que Roma.
A Marina se le ha relacionado con muchos actores y hombres con el paso de los años, pero parece que su lealtad y fidelidad yace actualmente con Diego Luna. Algo que caracteriza a estos grandes actores es su amor por su vida privada y se han dedicado a mantener toda su vida privada oculta de los medios.
