Ray Charles Robinson, professionally known as Ray Charles, was an accomplished singer, musician, songwriter, and composer who was often lovingly called The Genius. Charles lost his eyesight when he was just seven years old. Ray became one of the first black musicians to have gained total artistic control by a popular record company. His grandson, Kiel Robinson, pursued football from his college days and is a Colorado State sophomore linebacker. He is dedicated to the game and has ensured that he won’t ever need to contemplate on hiring a bankruptcy lawyer or avail mortgage loans in his career.
