Large bodies of water, like ponds and lakes, once frightened Lexi despite her enjoying their beauty. While she loved their beauty, she had a deep fear of what might lurk beneath—snakes and insects in particular. Her size made it impossible to look down and see what was near her, adding to her unease.
After losing weight, she decided to face that fear head-on by trying kayaking. This sport involves using a small, narrow watercraft and a double-headed paddle, often shared between two partners. Once on the water, Lexi discovered a newfound sense of calm and freedom. She realized her fear had vanished, and she enjoyed the sport.
