During her fourth headlining tour, “ArtRave: The Artpop Ball,” Lady Gaga, the queen of avant-garde pop, took her fashion game to new depths, literally. She donned a polka-dot-print octopus costume, complete with tentacles and all. Gaga’s theatrical performances and fashion statements often blur the line between costume and couture, so this under-the-sea ensemble made a huge splash.
While the tour was a celebration of her “Artpop” album, known for its bold aesthetic, the octopus outfit was a bit too ‘out there’ for some. It seemed like Gaga had raided a marine biologist’s dream and added a touch of disco. But Gaga paid no mind to the naysayers.
