Oswaldo Sánchez es un guardameta ágil y de grandes reflejos pese a su más de 1.80 metros y sus 85 kilos de peso. Su buen juego de pies le ha valido el respeto de todos sus rivales y el reconocimiento de todos sus entrenadores desde que empezó en su adolescencia.
Antes de ser profesional, Oswaldo jugó varias temporadas en equipos mexicanos y llegó a ser seleccionado para la sub-20 y sub-23 de su país. Ha tenido una exitosa carrera jugando por su selección en la copa mundial y los juegos olímpicos.
Hoy vive retirado de las canchas, gozando de su familia junto a su esposa Esperanza del Toro, a quien conoce desde la época escolar y con quien tiene 4 bellos hijos.
