Australian female soldiers, often referred to as “Diggers,” have been turning heads and breaking barriers since the early 20th century. Their striking looks, combined with a no-nonsense attitude, make them stand out both on and off the battlefield. In 1941, the Australian Women’s Army Service (AWAS) was established, allowing women to serve in various non-medical roles, from clerks to drivers.
During World War II, some AWAS members were stationed in New Guinea, marking the first time Australian women served overseas in non-nursing roles. Their blend of beauty and bravery continues to inspire, proving that Aussies are as tough as they are gorgeous.
