Jared Leto es otro actor versátil que hace lo que sea para estar perfecto para un papel. Para su papel en Dallas Buyer’s Club, que después le hizo ganar un premio de la academia, Leto tuvo que perder 30 libras ya que tenía que interpretar a un paciente de sida. Jared estaba tan comprometido con su personaje que él comió muy poco por días, incluso recurriendo a no comer nada, con esto logró perder 38 libras. Él ha hecho experimentos similares con su peso muchas veces. Después de que la película terminó, él ganó su peso de nuevo para otra película que estaba haciendo.
