Aunque técnicamente él no tenía que perder peso, él sí tuvo que pasar por la dura experiencia cuando bajó de peso para “Dallas Buyers Club”. El meticuloso actor bajó de inmediato su consumo de calorías, comiendo nada más cinco onzas de pescado, una copa de vegetales, claras de huevos y pollo. Desafortunadamente, esto no fue suficiente para bajar 50 libras y Matthew realizó ejercicios físicos agotadores para lograr su peso ideal.
