Although the school was happy to have the twins, practical matters like pay and benefits required thoughtful consideration. As teachers of dual grade levels in a small town, they were classified as part-time employees, as they didn’t work a full school day.
Consequently, they received a single salary. It’s uncertain whether they receive double benefits and retirement contributions, but they plan to negotiate for fair compensation in the future. Their journey highlights an ongoing challenge in finding equitable solutions to ensure their contributions are fully recognized.
